Scouting 253

Discover how we gave Scouting Troop 253 a fresh digital presence. With over 50 active scouts, dozens of community volunteers, and years of history, it was time to replace their outdated site with a design that matched their adventurous spirit. Troop 253 is a Raleigh-based chapter committed to developing leadership, service, and outdoor skills in young men and women.
What We’ve Done
- Strategic Discovery with scout leaders and parents
- Website redesign & optimization for usability
- Mobile-friendly design for families on the go
- Event & calendar system for better communication
- Component-based UI-kit for ongoing updates
- Content strategy to highlight service, leadership, and adventure
Troop 253 needed help making their site more usable and informative for parents, prospective scouts, and current members. Their old site made it difficult to find troop information, register for events, or learn about the scouting journey. They also wanted a platform that reflected their mission while being easy for leaders to update.
Troop 253 Asked Us To:
- Take their website look & feel to the next level
- Fix usability and navigation issues for parents and scouts
- Match their bold mission to the design and experience of the site
- Provide a structure that helps new families quickly understand how to get involved
Our Approach
Creating a homepage with clear and targeted messaging was a crucial step in making the troop more approachable to new families. Together with the scout leaders, we restructured the site using the AIDA model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) and paired it with clear calls-to-action like Join the Troop, Upcoming Campouts, and Get Involved.
